Restore

When restoring a home there are a whole lot of "R's" involved. Restore being the main one but a few others follow. Over the next few weeks we will be doing an "R" series where we breakdown the "R's" we set at the forefront of our company and explain why we do what we do.

A few years back, when we decided to start this business my dad would always tell me "Do not get attached to the houses, this is just business." For me that was hard. There is always something I love about the homes we choose to restore. Every time we finish restoring a home I always say that I am going to buy it because I love it so much. My dad usually just shakes his head and laughs but overtime he too has had a hard time following his own advice. You see the definition restore has many definitions, one being:

Re·store

to repair or renovate (a building, work of art, vehicle, etc.) so as to return to it's original condition.

Restoring is our craft, our work of art. It is something we are passionate about and are very meticulous when we decide to go on a project. When looking for our houses we do not just think about the house and how good it will look once finished. We think about the exact family that will be moving in once we have done our duty; once we have turned the home back into it's original condition. I believe that has truly made a difference in how we work alongside each other and the final outcome of the home because it has all been done with so much love and thought.

People always ask us what our favorite parts of restoring a house is and I always say the finished product and my dad always responds with "Demo Day!" I will have to say that I disagree with him. He and my mom are always the last the leave the house the day we sell it and I think it is because he likes to walk through the rooms and admire what has been accomplished. It takes a lot to get to the final product of a restored home. Taking the time to just relish in your labor is just part of the success.

Every project is not easy peasy. We have a lot of bumps in the road but we stay focused. It is so important to us to make a house a home for a family and I believe we do just that. A house is just four walls that give shelter. That is until you put love into it, then it becomes a home and that is exactly why we restore. To give our work of art a family who will love it just as much as we do.

We hope you enjoy our restorations and our push to beautify our small town of Ennis. We aim to do that one house at a time!

Erica and John
